July 21, 2023 – Joshua Christian Academy today announced the retirement of its Executive Director, Reverend Keith A. Ratliff, Sr. After 14 years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to the school’s mission, Reverend Ratliff will be stepping down from his position effective August 3, 2023.

Reverend Ratliff was part of a leadership team responsible for starting Joshua Christian Academy (JCA) 14 years ago.  Under his leadership, JCA has flourished and grown into one of Des Moines’ leading faith-based educational institutions providing an affordable, quality, and Christ-centered education to the urban youth of Des Moines. His tireless efforts have contributed significantly to the success and impact of JCA, and his passion for providing a Christ-centered education to urban youth has left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students.

Reverend Ratliff expressed his gratitude and stated, “I want to THANK all of you for your support over these past fourteen years when we started JCA. These past years of meeting and working with you honestly will always be remembered. May God Bless you all until we meet again. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!”

New Head of School
As Joshua Christian Academy bids farewell to Reverend Ratliff, it is with great pleasure that JCA announces the appointment of Joseph Jackson as the new Head of School and Dean of Students at JCA Main. Mr. Jackson brings a deep commitment to the mission of Joshua Christian Academy. His extensive background, coupled with a genuine passion for serving urban youth, makes him an ideal fit for this important leadership role. Mr. Jackson received his degree from Iowa State University and attends Cottage Grove Church in Des Moines along with his wife and son.

Mr. Jackson’s appointment signifies Joshua Christian Academy’s continued dedication to providing an exceptional educational experience that aligns with its core mission. He will work closely with the dedicated faculty and staff to ensure that JCA maintains its commitment to affordability, quality education, and fostering a Christ-centered environment.

Speaking on behalf of Joshua Christian Academy, Board Chairperson Howard Vroom expressed his excitement about Mr. Jackson’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Joseph Jackson to our Joshua Christian Academy family. His expertise and vision will undoubtedly drive JCA forward and continue the remarkable legacy established by Reverend Ratliff. Together with our dedicated team, Mr. Jackson will lead us in delivering an exceptional educational experience that instills strong values and equips our students for success in all aspects of their lives.”

Joshua Christian Academy extends its deepest gratitude to Reverend Keith Ratliff for his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment. JCA  looks forward to embarking on this new chapter with Joseph Jackson, confident that his leadership will further enhance the academy’s ability to positively impact the lives of urban youth in Des Moines.

Students, families, staff, and supporters are invited to say goodbye to Reverend Ratliff as follows:

  • Monday, July 31- Thursday, August 3, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., JCA Main, 1740 Garfield Avenue

  • Refreshments will be provided on Wednesday, August 2, and Thursday, August 3 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
