K-1st Grade

Laura Meyers

My father was in the Air Force and he loved to travel so I spent most of my childhood living internationally – Italy, Japan, and the Philippines. My father would always ask, “I wonder where that road leads?” and we would be off to explore. He fostered a love of learning that continues to this day.
I received my BA in Elementary Education from MidAmerica Nazarene College in Olathe, KS. I have included different subject areas in my continuing education courses.

My grandmother always said I had a “one-room schoolhouse” where I was blessed to be able to homeschool our children for over 25 years. I was actively involved in our homeschool support group and was a supervising teacher to several families.

I have been married to my college sweetheart, Brad, for 34 years. We have 8 children (4 boys and 4 girls) ranging in ages from 14-30. Four of the children are married and another wedding is coming soon. We have six grandchildren to hug now and another one joining us soon.

”I am still amazed how God uses “coincidences” in our lives and continues to impress things upon our hearts, teach us, guide us... I enjoy chapel time and worshipping Him in song, in sign language, and through Bible memory. I want to watch the students grow in the Lord. “

Teacher's Assistant, K-1st

Kendra Heidt

Ms. Heidt received her degree from the University of Michigan. She was employed as an actuary for eight years. She served as a Special Education Associate in the Waukee preschools. God then led her to JCA West as a volunteer and then as a teacher. She and her husband have three children.

“I am thrilled to live out God’s purpose for my life as a teacher at JCA. I am especially excited for children to learn and know that God has a purpose and a plan for their lives.”

Ms. Monroe has always wanted to be part of the JCA family. She has over 25 years of experience working with pre-school to school-age children. She is an active member of the Corinthian Baptist Church serving in Marriage Ministry, Mother’s Board, Choir, and Sunday School Superintendent. She enjoys spending time with her husband and family.

“I am passionate about children learning and about sharing the word of God and leading students to Christ.”

She and her husband, Tyler have three kids who are currently attending JCA West. After homeschooling for several years, they decided to take a step of faith and enroll at JCA.

God has answered many prayers by providing such a great school family!

I am thrilled to be able to come on staff and excited to help students discover God’s glory and goodness in creation and throughout history.”
