JCA Dream Team Rides RAGBRAI

During one of the hottest weeks of the summer, JCA students and their teacher, Ms. Liz Sweeney, rode their bikes 2000 miles across Iowa as part of the Des Moines Dream Team during the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa or RAGBRAI.

Since February 1, these students have dedicated three days a week to practice for RAGBRAI. They did three camp-outs and rode over 1000 miles to qualify for the ride.

The Des Moines Dream Team is a five-month program that partners youth with adult mentors to for a unique opportunity to build relationships, achieve personal growth, and learn life skills. The program culminates with RAGBRAI. The young adults in the program build confidence and self-esteem while learning that healthy goals can be attained with sufficient planning and preparation. Thank you to Ms. Liz Sweeney for her leadership, and congratulations to everyone for this major accomplishment!
