General Motors engineers speak at JCA West

JCA students learned about the importance of S.T.E.M., science, technology, engineering a math, during a virtual S.T.E.M. event on Friday, February 17th, 2020. The webinar featured two professionals from General Motors, Assistant Plant Director Theogene Levergne Jr. and Safety Forensic Engineer Cedric Stokes, speaking about how their early interest in tinkering with toys, creativity, and inventing led them to their careers at GM. They discussed their STEM journeys, who inspired them, their jobs at GM, and what STEM means to them today. They also read aloud the story, Whoosh! Lonnie Johnson’s Super-Soaking Stream of Inventions about how the Super-Soaker—one of the top 20 toys of all time—was accidentally invented! The webinar was. hosted by First Book Marketplace.
